Jan 28 2006 - changes and clarifications to Torpor
A vampire in Torpor now can't even bite or be bitten by vampires, nor regain blood from a Necromancer, nor rob though they can still be robbed; their only option for recovery is to drink from humans. Jan 24 2006 - Battle Cloaks
The Peacekeepers Missions now offer BattleCloaks; a vampire dressed in a Battle Cloak may only use weapons on others in Cloaks, and may only have weapons used upon them by others in Cloaks. A BattleCloaked vampire reduced below 10 blood goes into Torpor - unable to attack or be attacked by anyone at all. Torpor ends when the vampire's blood goes above 250.
The cloaks are cheap; getting them removed is expensive and can only be done once.
BattleCloaked vampires are highlighted in blue. Perception now highlights 'rob' in yellow rather than the vampire. Latest Update: Apr 10 2005 - Scrolls of Succour A new object, Scrolls of Succour, in stores now. Partner-bonding now also affects the AP cost of telepathy, like sire-bonding. Apr 2 2005 - Perception Told you a proper update would be coming soon. I didn't expect same-day, but here it is - a new power, Perception, available from the Allurists Guilds. Also a minor extra feature to partner-bonding; the partner's name is now a link so you can view their details as if you had Second-Sight (whether you do or not). The Power costs 7500 coins and involves killing a vampire hunter within 10 days.. Jan 16 2005 - More Things Another mystery update, which will be noticed approximately as frequently as the vampire hunters. These are random items scattered all over the City, free for the taking. They can be any item, or even bags of money. Nov 13 2004 - New Kids In Town There are rumours of some new faction stirring. Lesser vampires have been found staked, and nobody knows who did it.
These would be the "Vampyre Hunters". Pains in the ass, really. They look like normal humans but shoot crossbow stakes at you and run... Chasing them can be most painful, but also profitable. You will earn some BP back (but not nearly as much as you may lose) and will get a nice cash reward. Oct 25 2004 - Charisma New power, Charisma, from a new guild. Available at Allurists Guild

Ideal for when you really just want to tell someone to get lost. This item costs 1000 coins (700 at Discount Shops) and may be used on either yourself or another vampyre. It randomly sends the target far away, without any harm. Oct 10 2004 - More Severance The Hall of Severance now offers the additional capacity to sever bound couples. Next week, something more interesting. Oct 03 2004 - Garlic Spray The potion shops have got a new item in stock - Garlic Spray. Intended for use on medium-strength vampires or weaker, its effect on strong vampires is not as pronounced as that of Holy Water, though it is cheaper. (Also several bugs were fixed in the last month.) This does 25 - 50 points of damage per use, and vampyres with high Aug 25 2004 - Hall of Binding Across the road from the Hall of Severance, the Hall of Binding has been built. Vampires can bind to a new sire, or bind together as couples. Exact location is at Vervain and 40th. Costs:
* 5,000 coins to be bound to a new Sire (assuming you have already severed from any previous Sire)
*10,000 coins EACH to be Partner Bound to another vampyre May 06 2004 - Hall of Severance A new building at Walrus and 40th, the Hall of Severance, allows vampires to prune their family trees. The cost is 50,000 coins, and 1000 BP. May 01 2004 - New Things There are some new objects available. Specifically, they are Dandelions, Roses, Black Orchids, and Diamond Rings. As I recall, the prices are 5, 50, 100 and 100,000 coins respectively. They serve no actual purpose other than as nice things to give others. Note: Flowers will all wither and die, disappearing from your inventory in time. April 14 2004 - Oops Not an update to the game, this time, but rather a horrible error, thanks to dealing with cheaters when tired. All vampires with less than 2000 blood today got whatever amount of blood brings them up to 2000, in an irreversible operation. To make it relatively fair, I gave everyone else an extra 1000 blood as well, since it was impossible to reverse. Please don't ask me to make any changes to individual vampires - that's the sort of thing that causes mistakes like this in the first place. My apologies to anyone this causes trouble for. February 16 2004 - Telepathy There is a new power, Telepathy, described in the FAQ as follows:
Telepathy (3 Levels Available): The vampire is able to send telepathic messages to other vampires, no matter where they are. At level one it costs ten action points to send a telepathic message. At level two it costs six. At level three it costs two. Sending a message to your sire or one of your childer costs half the action points of communicating with other vampires, ie. it costs only one action point to communicate with one of your childer using level three telepathy.
Word has it this new power is being taught at the Travellers Guilds. December 11 2003 - Pawn Shops There are now four pawn shops in the city. They behave the same as other shops, but they don't sell things. Instead you can sell them your old objects that you no longer want - at a loss, of course.
I wish to point out to all that this addition to the City is thanks to the hard work of the High Council.

Welcome to the second issue of "The Night Watch", a monthy magazine for the Ambassadors, Speakers, Watchmen, and other members of the NightWatch. Everyone is doing hard work, and everyone seems to be giving 110%, and because of that, we have grown to the point where we require a newsletter. YAY!

Section One
Jurisdiction of The NightWatch
Code 101: The jurisdiction of the NightWatch does NOT extend into individual clan, houses and other groups. Problems within clans and inter-clan issues are settled by clans.
Code 102: The NightWatch is sanction by clans and individuals who have recognized the need for the NightWatch.
102A: The Constable in Charge of an investigation has free reign to conduct said investigation as he or she sees fit.
102B: The Constable in Charge has a responsibility to conclude the investigation in a reasonable manner, including the timeliness of the investigation, the overall conclusion of the investigation, and the levying of any warnings, fines, or punatives.
Code 103: The NightWatch's duties include the policing of those individual vampires who are clanless, and those who are members of a clan, but who's issue falls outside the realm of a "clan-war"
Code 104: If at any point during an investigation, a clan finds it important to intercede, the watchman in charge is to stand down.
Code 105: All citizens of the city are eligible to participate in NightWatch activities, regardless of status or clan affiliation.
Code 106: Officers of the Watch (Watchmen or Constables) are required to recuse themselves in the event of clan/nightwatch conflict of interests.
Code 107: Applications to NightWatch positions shall be made freely available to all citizens.

Section Two
Use of Foul Language
Code 201: It is illegal to use foul language in the graveyard.
Code 202: It is illegal to use foul language in association with stalker-like behavior, including OOC threats.

Section Three
Holy Water
Code 301: The use of Holy Water is acceptable in Clan Wars, used as a punative measure by a clan or NightWatch Constable, in matters of Self Defense, or in retaliation.
301A: Use of Holywater during a clanwar is defined as that use which is connected to the defense or offense of an entire clan, and not an individual.
301B: Punative measures include a NightWatch constable dealing punishment to a lawbreaker, or a clan punishing one of their own in an internal matter.
301C: Self defense is discribed as using holywater to return an attack that has been made upon a vampire's person through the use of holywater or scrolling, NOT biting.
301D: The use holywater is permitted as retaliation after a large theft. The definition of a large theft is up to the discretion of the Constable in Charge of the investigation.
Code 302: The use of Holywater is not permitted in the Graveyard under any circumstances at all.
Code 303: The use of holywater is not permitted for random splashing, or for purposes of experimentation.
303A: At the discretion of the officer in Charge, the punishment shall be a warning only, in the event of a newbie experimenting with holywater for the first time.
303B: Punishments for malicious random splashings shall be double or triple, at the discretion of the constable in charge, if committed within the graveyard.

Section Four
Crime Reports
Code 401: It is illegal to file a false crime report with the NightWatch for any reason.
401A: At the discretion of the Constable in charge of the investigation, punishment for this crime may be more severe if such false reporting was done with malicious intent.
401B: No crime shall be found to be committed if it can be shown that such false filing was done in error.

Section Five
Grave Yard
Code 501: Loitering in the graveyard is a minor offense and is not to be punished.
501A: Loiterers will be given periodic warnings, and if need be, the graveyard will be scrolled by a vampire with the power of neutrality, so that the graveyard will be cleared for thos wishing to pay their respects.
501B: Scrolling of the graveyard for purposes of clearing may ONLY be done by vampires who possess the neutrality power, as it will spill no blood.
Code 502: Descecration of the Graveyard is illegal at all times and under any circumstances.
502A: It is illegal to use Foul language in the graveyard at anytime, for any reason.
502B: It is illegal to spill blood in the graveyard at any time, for any reason.
502C: It is illegal to to bite Humans or Vampires in the Graveyard at any time for any reason.
502D: It is illegal to use thievery skills in the graveyard at any time, for any reason.
502E: It is illegal to use holywater in the graveyard at any time, for any reason.
502F: It is illegal to use a scroll of turning in the graveyard, aimed to a square outside the graveyard at any time, for any reason, with the exception of use by a neutral vampire.
502G: It is illegal to aim and fire a scroll of turning into the graveyard, at any time, for any reason, with the exception of use by a neutral vampire.
502H: It is illegal to use multiple scrolls of turning, even by a neutral vampire, for purposes of preventing reasonable access to a vampire wishing to pay respects.

Section Six
Attacks on a Constable
Code 601: It is an offense to attack a known constable while he is in the commission of his duties.
601A: A known constable is one who has identified himself as such, or is otherwise generally known as a member of the NightWatch due to other activity.
Code 602: It is illegal to attack a constable due to that constable's affiliation with the NightWatch.

Section Seven
City Services
Code 701: It is illegal to undermine or otherwise sabotage city services.
701A: It is illegal to steal from a city service, such as The Lottery.
701B: It is acceptable to steal from a city service where such theft is actually part of the service, such as the Transit Guards.
701C: It is illegal to attack vampires which have been set up for the sole purpose of performing a city service.
701D: It is illegal to hijack the intents of a city service by using a vampire with a similar name.
701E: It is illegal to embezzle from a city service, or abuse one's position within the management of said service for purposes of embezzlement.

IMPORTANT: Notice to all Ambassadors:
This message is to the new ambassadors, and anyone else who may need reminding.
It is very important that ambassadors keep to the business of making law, and not becaome involved with the business of the watchmen. This system works because watchment cannot vote on law, and because ambassadors do not enforce the law. I ask all ambassadors not to become involved with the policing side of the NightWatch. It undermines us, and often throws a wrench into delicate discussions.
This is particularly true of the questioning room and the watchmen's offices. Those places are open for ambassadors to see, as an observation courtesy. Please hold your discussions in the conference room.
Again, this separation is critical to our success. Ambassadors cannot become involved in the policing side, and watchmen cannot vote in the conference room.

our Keep! As some of you may have noticed your Grand Duke has
reached and surpassed the 100,000 mark. The feeding in our City is
indeed rich, and even the humblest of vampyres can become strong and
powerful with time and patience, and much feeding of course! Now that I have achieved this prodigious goal, I find that my
services and knowledge have been called upon from a neighboring
Kingdom of our City-State and, as Ambassador and ranking nobility of
our City-State it falls upon me to venture forth and commune with our
neighboring kingdoms. These duties shall call me away from our fair
City for a protracted period of time I fear. However I would never
be so remiss as to leave my most cherished Family unprotected or
unrepresented. To this end I have the most joyous duty of raising from within our
own Clan Council two councilors who have served our Family well to
new and important potions in the Family. In honor and respect for
her many long years of tireless advocacy for our Clan and Family I am
proud to elevate Marchioness Alabaster to the well-earned rank of
Duchess de Centari! Duchess Alabaster shall lead this Family in my
stead for however-so-long I shall be called away on diplomatic
business. Her words and actions are as mine. All here should share
in my utter and complete faith in my beloved Daughter and look to her
for guidance and leadership in the months to come, for she is now
your Liege Lady. The Duchess's elevation does leave the position of Tanaiste of the
Clan open, and thus allows me to fill this august position in our
Family with one of our clan leaders in whom I have great confidence
and the very highest of hopes. Please join me in congratulating the
Baroness latristesse de Centari on her elevation to the role of
Tanaiste of the Clan! (For those unfamiliar with the term, the
Tanaiste is the leader who deals with the many day-to-day activities
that keep large dukedoms such as ours operating smoothly.) This is a
prodigious task and a most venerable position within the Family. I
have the very utmost faith in the Baroness latristesse and believe
she shall fill the role most admirably and most honorably! Should a time come when the Duchess is unable to continue her duties
as the leader of the Clan and Fmaily, the Baroness latristesse shall then be
further elevated to the lofty position of leadership of the Clan! I have
every faith in the superb leadship qualities of our Tanaiste, and know
she would do equally well at the helm. Yet the Winds of Changes are still whistling through all Halls! For
there are further developments which I must share with you my
Family! Many years ago our Clan was sub-divided in various Houses
and we were very much self-sufficient. It is my opinion that we must
once more regain this self-dependence so as not to be at the mercy of
the often capricious natures of our fellow City dwellers. To this
end I announce the reformation of the House de Centari! There shall
be the following houses formed, each to be lead by one or more of the
members of the Clan Council: Entertainment House, to be headed by Lord Grage
Thieving House, to be headed by Duchess Alabaster
Diplomacy House, to be headed by Lord Mordecai
Training House, to be lead by Lord Ashlan
Information House, to be lead by Tanaiste latristesse Each Lord or Lady leading one of these Houses shall give much more
detailed descriptions as well as their "official" house's name very
shortly. In turn, each and every member of the Clan must choose a
House to participate in. There shall be much work to be done for the
houses and the clan to succeed and each member must do his or her
part. I believe you shall all find the effort well worth it and
ultimately a most enjoyable experience, for you shall each know that
you have contributed an important and vital part to your Family's
success. All new applicants to our Halls shall choose a House to
participate in upon acceptance to the Clan. These are indeed most portentous and exhilarating times Children!
Our Family shall grow more self-sufficient and become even more
powerful and important in our community, and each and ever one of you
shall have a stake in our success and shall be proud to be members of

God of the Grey Realms of Neutrality August 22, 2006 The Clan has been around a long time. Here are a few of the highlights from our past deeds.

I wished to take a moment and share with you the enormous amount of hard work that all the leaders of this Family do for us.
Marchioness Alabaster is truly the Heart of this Clan, Children. Her contributions both within its Halls, as well as behind the scenes truly keep the Clan functioning and in such great shape. Her tireless efforts are a major source of our Clan's greatness. It is Marchioness Alabaster that I truly must give the bulk of this Clan's greatness credit for. She has been here through thick and thin, through great personal difficulties and pains, and has always been a source of help, inspiration, hard work and truly great leadership.
And if Marchioness Alabaster is the Heart of the Clan, then Marquis Vukodlac is the Soul of the Clan. He has taken onto himself greater and greater responsibility over time. His hard work and creative thinking have improved the Clan immeasurably. Marquis Vukodlac's unflagging enthusiasm and remarkable energy both within the Halls as well as behind the scenes has furthered our cause and helped make this Clan a truly great one to be a part of.
Baroness Vampire Angel has also been with this Family through thick and thin. She served most admirably as Castellan of the Clan until trying personal drama called her away to attend to her private family over her extended family here. And yet she stayed with us in spirit and never departed from these Halls. She has now accepted the potion of High Councilor for Clan de Beljeferon in High Council.
Viscount Veni Veni Vini has had the duty of leading this Clan through some of its darker hours, and had done so most admirably. He was the original founder of our Bank, a most honorable High Councilor, a great help to many, an avid contributor and a good friend. It is with a heavy heart that I say farewell to the Viscount at this time, and hope that time and personal matters that allow him to return more fully to us in the future.
Finally, Marquis Paulus and Baron Murrz Ramirez have done a great deal to aid and improve this Family as well. Marquis Paulus also had the duty of being co-leader of this Clan during some of its darker times and has been with us from literally day one. Baron Murrz, along with his many duties outside these Halls, has contributed greatly to us by maintaining our Clan Calendar and keeping us informed of some of the deeper rumblings of the City.
I wish to salute each and every one of these leaders and extend my personal thanks and admiration to each of them. Truly, without you this Clan could never have survived all these many years and become the thriving forum it now is. Please know that I value each of you and could not do this without you!

As many of you are aware, Count Paulus has been (slowly) wooing Countess Alabaster for quite some time now. In fact, it's been about a year long engagement, since my Son is rather old fashioned and believes in a looooong wooing period.
It is with GREAT pleasure (and no small amount of relief!) that I now announce the Secret Elopement of Count Paulus de Centari with Countess Alabaster de Centari! They were wed just yesterday in a private ceremony. Paulus's and Alabaster's Binding I would like everyone to join me in wishing them both a joyous and forever exciting Binding! The Reception shall be held in the Mani Hall of Centari Keep and begins immediately!

It has come to my attention that with the expansion of the Clan and with your Liege's retirement to his coutry estate, some of you are feeling slightly adrift. I do not like hearing my Children are uncertain or unhappy, therefore I have raised two of my most beloved and trusted Children to positions of authority and leadership within our growing Clan and Family.
Please join me in honoring and recognizing Lady Teeb and Lady Alexis Neko in their new positions!
BE IT KNOWN that on this day the Lady TeeB is appointed Seneschal de Centari. The Keep's Senechal is an official in a medieval noble household in charge of domestic arrangements and the administration of servants; a steward or major-domo. As an officer in the house of the Duke of the City of RavenBlack, she has the superintendence of feasts and domestic ceremonies, and sometimes the Seneschal has the duty of the dispensing of justice, and has been given a high military command. The Keep's Seneschal is equal, but seperate from the Castellan. [NOTE: Lady TeeB has since resigned as Seneschal, and has moved from the City as last I knew.]
BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that on this day the Lady Alexis Neko is raised to the noble title of Baroness de Centari. With this title she is awarded appropriate leadership rights and responsibilities within the Clan and Family of the Duke Beljeferon de Centari.
From this day forth these two honorable and worthy vampyresses shall assume leadership roles and duties within the Clan de Beljeferon. They shall act in conjunction with The Duke's Son, Count Paulus, and Veni Vini Veci, the Castellan of the Keep, to govern and rule wisely and justly the Clan.
Together, these four have the trust and faith of the Duke and are charged to protect, guide and help the Clan and all its members thrive and grow strong in the City of RavenBlack.

With our Lady Vampire Angel's departure, the position of Castellan of Clan de Beljeferon was left vacant. Your Liege Lord, Duke Beljeferon, stepped out of retirement briefly to tend to the matters of day-to-day Clan business. However, this was only a temporary situation. Your Liege does indeed care for each of you; however, he is very busy and does not normally become involved in the daily operation of Centari Keep. That task he leaves in the hands of younger, very capable, and well-trusted members of his Family.
I am pleased to make the following Proclamation:
Let it be known on this day that Count Paulus de Centari and Lord Veni Vini Veci shall assume control over the day-today operation of Clan de Beljeferon. Count Paulus shall be the Manor Lord, and Lord Veni Vini Veci shall be the Castellan and good right hand to Count. I also proclaim that Lady TeeB shall be Head Mistress of Training. These are the three honorable vampyres of the Family that shall be working closely together to run the affairs of the Keep. They have my every confidence and full support.
Your Liege Lord, Duke Beljeferon de Centari, shall oversee Centari Keep from his Tower as he has always done. Rest assured that the Keep will be kept updated and in good repair. I shall also do my best to welcome new members as they enter and to share with the Clan news from the High Council, the Congress and the City as a whole.
Rejoice all! We are entering a new period of growth and renaissance!
